Yes the pipe arrived very quickly as usual, thank you for your concern. the pipe is OUTSTANDING...simply beautiful...i thought there was something special about it when i saw it, it took me awhile of studying your Xmas pipe pictures(after i ordered it) to realize: every pipe not only had a different grain/finish but a slight variation in shape/design. I am very happy with my choice and am honored you remembered me this holiday season. My family wishes your family the best of holiday seasons!

Last sunday I finally get my pipes. I'm very happy with both pipes,and inmediatly start smoking in the "tulip".
Your pipes are beauty an very ligths, with a great balance and gives a perfect smoke.
All the reviews about your pipes are ABSOLUTLY TRUE!, your pipes are greats and I really love the silver spigot.

Caro Maurizio

il sole questa mattina illuminava la città e il lago accarezzati da una leggera brezza che rendeva piacevole passeggiare. Guardavo il cielo di un azzurro intenso, venato qua e la da grandi batuffoli bianchi ed uno di questi ha colpito la mia immaginazione. Proprio davanti a me, sopra le cupole della città, si stagliava una nuvola bianca dalla forma strana. Sul principio non riuscivo a capirne la forma. Mi sono soffermato ad osservare con più attenzione e, cercando di capire cosa potesse rappresentare, ecco che i contorni disegnavano la silhouette di una pipa a forma di anfora.

Ho fissato a lungo quell’immagine, nel silenzio di quel cielo azzurro ed ho immaginato di poterla toccare, di stringere tra le mani, portarla alla bocca e, con movimenti lenti e studiati, avvicinare la fiamma ed aspirare lentamente fresche boccate di fumo. È come se fossi dentro una bolla colorata dove il tempo sembra sospeso. Stavo fumando una ‘nuvola’! Leggere spire di fumo simili a fiocchi di bambagia danzavano leggermente nell’aria, una piccola magia di primavera.

Sì, perché a maggio nevica. Non guardarmi con quella faccia sbalordita e con quegli occhi stupiti. Nevica! Come sempre succede a maggio a Mantova. Fitti fiocchi di bambagia coprono la città e scendono lentamente sul terreno. Una leggera brezza muove nell’aria questi fiocchi, li fa girare da una parte all’altra, li sposta, li innalza e poi li spinge verso il basso, creando vortici di bianco che coprono il cielo. Si ha una sensazione strana. Il sole questa mattina dominava il cielo, per cui questa bambagia, scendendo lentamente, riceveva i riflessi dei raggi mandando strani bagliori. Sembrava una magia…di quelle che sanno ricreare le tue pipe. Così erano le spirali di fumo dalla mia ‘nuvola’.

Chi ama la pipa è anche un collezionista, ama acquistarne sempre di nuove, ma quando incontra un mastro pipaio che sa creare le tue ‘nuvole’, allora pensa di aver trovato veri tesori d’arte, di quell’arte antica che la tecnologia moderna sembra aver messo in un angolo e dimenticato. E fumare una ‘nuvola’ è come sentirsi sollevati nel cielo in compagnia di altre nuvole perché ti senti leggero come le tue creazioni, perché il fumo scorre fresco come una brezza che ristora, perché il gusto del tabacco ti ritorna col suo vero gusto e sapore. E anche questa è…magia

Hello Stefania and Maurizio,

Sorry for the delay in acknowledging receiving my new pipe from you.
But to be honest, I needed a little time to gather my feelings over what I encountered upon opening the package you sent.

The sheer beauty of what I have sitting before me is remarkable; I believe what you have created here is in fact the perfect pipe!

The technical craftsmanship you impart into all your pipes is beyond equal.
They are as much a delight just to cradle in your hand as they are remarkably easy to smoke; but this time pale in comparison to the lines this sculpture displays.
I'm sure you must be familiar with the old drafting instruments called French Curves.
I've always reacted to the ways the lines of hyperbola, ellipses and parabolas all begin and end on these tools.
With your new pipe, you have in fact recreated some of these perfect lines, while yet being altogether exciting and transcendent. The sweep of the mouth piece into the stem is flawless, the returns of the bowl from all angles just hit the same uninterrupted geometric precision.
The final touch is the ever present since of whimsy you impart in your work.
They seem fun and happy, animated and alive and add yet another dimension to what is already work that far exceeds anything else I have ever seen.
In this case it reminds me of a wisp of smoke that has been given a new direction by a light breeze.

Simply unbelievable.

I have been admiring her for three days, as I'm sure I will for a lifetime.

Ciao Maurizio,

La nuova nuvola è arrivata con incredibile celerità.

Come promesso cercherò di esprimere le mie impressioni, anche se, rileggendo il tutto mi rendo conto che le parole per descrivere la mia soddisfazione per l'acquisto non saranno mai abbastanza.

Allora, martedì in tarda sera l'ho vista ed ordinata. Giovedì mattina ho iniziato a fumarla. Quindi il primo complimento va alla celerità del servizio.

Poi che altro dire! Sono alla mia seconda nuvola e le belle sensazioni che già mi diede, e continua a darmi, la prima sono state ampiamente confermate dal nuovo arrivo.
La sto fumando mentre scrivo, caricata col mio tabacco preferito, con immensa soddisfazione nonostante sia ancora "in rodaggio".

Lo stile unico del design, veramente innovativo (bellissimo il richiamo ad "antiche memorie rivisitate"), la sua forma unica (Woodstock semicurva), la sua rusticatura leggera e curata, il suo splendido colore naturale danno alla nuvola una spiccata personalità, aristocratica, delicata e semplice allo stesso tempo.

Poi nel fumarla, al pari della mia precedente, ho apprezzato la sua capacità di valorizzare al massimo il tabacco preferito, la fumata decisamente asciutta, il perfetto bilanciamento e molto altro. 

Insomma, è chiaro che le mie due nuvole occupano la posizione privilegiata nella rastrelliera e sono convinto che solo possedendone una si capisca come possano coinvolgere tutti i sensi nel fumarle, nel governarle.

My pipe has arrived today, and what a beautiful work of art it is! such graceful and sweeping lines. And to hold it really is like holding a cloud! It is so light! I have no doubt that no other pipe will ever be as special to me as this one! Thank you Stefania for your vision and thank you Maurizio for your flawless execution! You have made me a happy pipe lover today. I know we will meet again, as soon as I save enough penny's to add another lovely Le Nuvole to my collection. Until then, your friend and admirer....

I am happy to report to you my first experience with my Le Nuvole pipe. The first few days I carried my new pipe with me everywhere, just admiring its pure aesthetic beauty!  Today I filled my pipe with one of my favorite flakes, Stonehaven flake. As I carefully put fire to weed I could feel all was right. The draw was perfect!  The bowl was never too hot, the feel of the bit so comfortable! Almost like it was made just for me!  How incredible! The beauty of your pipes speaks for itself!  And the technical perfection of your pipes makes smoking a Le Nuvole a joyous experience! Thank you for the opportunity to own such a beautiful piece. as a pipe smoker and a lover of art I am richer for it.

Dear Maurizio- the 3 have arrived! Thank you!

Whenever your pipes arrive, Maurizio, I find myself asking why I bother buying any other pipes. <sigh> Your commitment to the highest standards of consistent excellence in all the details of fit and finish just keep me coming back for more, and more, and more.

There is not a speck of stain below the beveled rim leading into the mortise. The face of the shank that meets the stem is finished as carefully as the exterior of the pipe. The staining never goes into the bowl. The airway is wide open. And the pipes are great smokers. I cannot thank you enough for this. So, I guess I'll just keep adding more Le Nuvoles to my collection. <vbg>

More detailed comments to follow:

1. I opened the slender, bent, dublinesque 3 cloud first. I was surprised to see how delicate it really is. I believe the grain inside the bowl is just a strong as outside the bowl! But it will be hidden by cake shortly. <g> For the first time, I see the dramatic angle of the bent shape required a small adjustment in the bottom of the mortise to permit a pipe cleaner to pass.

2. Next came the other 3 cloud pipe, the "princely volcano." Steven Fowler told me he thought this shape was closer to a volcano than the prince shape. I guess I have to agree.  The base really is broad, but without the stolid flatness of the volcano.

The design elements of this pipe are fascinating! It certainly is a sitter, but the base from the bowl to the button is a gentle arc of amazing proportion. The shape is certainly more wood than I generally favor, but this design is captivating. And again, the straight grain in the bowl rivals, no, surpasses the exterior grain. <g>

3. Lastly, is the perfect pipe for me! A small, straight, sitter with the modified plateau rim which combines the best of the rustic elements with the smooth finish, showing off the birdseye grain on the rim. The birdeye on the base is almost perfectly centered from the bowl all the way down the shank. And the birdseye on the top of the shank is absolutely centered, looking like a marbleized amalgam of floating islands.

These pipes are certainly worth more money <g> and the wait was inconsequential! <vbg>

Buonasera Maurizio,

ormai è da circa un mese che fumo la #34 (dublino dritta con bordo a onda) e, come promesso, ti invio le mie impressioni.

La costruzione è di altissimo livello: la foratura del cannello e del bocchino, lo sbocco nel fornello e l'innesto cannello-bocchino sono perfetti, la cura dei dettagli e la finitura sono equivalenti o superiori a quelle di marchi più blasonati.

E' leggerissima, è perfettamente bilanciata e “sta bene in bocca”, il tiraggio è equilibrato e la temperatura in fumata si mantiene sufficientemente bassa.

Anche la linea è piacevole, con una personale interpretazione di una forma classica.

Per mia abitudine ho effettuato il rodaggio con una english mixture senza nessun pretrattamento del fornello, iniziando con 1/4 di carica e via via aumentando la quantita di tabacco fino a raggiungere il riempimento del fornello dopo sette-otto fumate; faccio solo attenzione a non eccedere nel riscaldamento, lasciando spegnere e riaccendendo più volte.

Sin dalla prima fumata ho avvertito il gusto ed il profumo del tabacco senza nessun elemento estraneo sgradevole. Non c'è stata la minima traccia di acquerugiola. Dopo 3-4 fumate è già apparso il gusto caratteristico e unico della pipa, direi neutro tendente al dolce. Fumo la pipa dal '78 e ho rodato parecchie pipe, ma mi era successo solo in alcuni casi che sin dalla prima fumata la pipa fosse già “buona”.

In conclusione, caro Maurizio, complimenti per la tua passione e competenza di “mastro piparo”.
