The stem to shank joint is not even perceptible with the fingers except for the difference in feel between the acrylic and the waxed briar. The interior of the bowl is silky smooth, and thankfully not "pre-carbonized". The shape of the bowl is perfectly symmetrical and gracefully done. I love the slight front-to-back convex rounding of the bottom; it's a subtle touch that adds more beauty to the piece. The fact that from left to right the bottom is flat lets it balance at the bowl and stem without tipping over. Not a “sitter” in the conventional sense but you can set it down without it tipping over. It's light, well balanced, and very comfortable. The photos, while of high quality, weren't able to do the grain justice. It's nearly 360 degrees of beautiful straight grain and the shape of the bowl flows naturally with it. >From the logo on the tasteful pipe bag to the way the stain was carefully applied so that it didn't enter the tobacco chamber, everything is "just right" and beyond. For the first smoke I tried Solani Silver Flake. >From the tin description: I've smoked this in several other pipes and enjoyed it, but the Le Nuvole really brought it alive. I could taste the components easier and the flavor was very "clear" for lack of a better word. Next I tried a straight Virginia, Rattray's Hal o' the Wynd. Again, the Le Nuvole really brought out all the subtle deep Virginia flavors that this tobacco can produce. Another thing that really surprised me was how clean this pipe was after each smoke. Normally I clean out the mortise after every smoke with tissue. It usually takes two or three tries before the tissue comes out clean. With the Le Nuvole the tissue came out clean after the first cleaning. To me Le Nuvole represents the highest form of art and function pipe
making. Beautiful, yet restrained and elegant designs combined with
flawless engineering. Mine is a group 4 yet it has really stunning
grain, grain some other pipe manufactures would put only in their
highest grades. Dylan Gladstone - Torrington -CT- USA - 13 agosto

Ciao e a “risentirci” Gianguido Gianguido Corniani - Goito (MN) - 8 agosto 2006 |
