dear maurizio,
after an long and very nice correspondence via mail i ordered my "tronchetto" yesterday around 11.00 a.m. ... its really unbelievable: today, around 10.00 am the pipe has reached my desk. just 23 hours from the order in italy to germany!
as i told you before, your website is almost as nice as your pipe shapes are. now
i 've got the original stuff: very well wrapped to avoid damages, the pipe box and the pipe pouch are like the two items mentioned above: everything else than pretentious, simply well styled and perfectly suited to the "le nuvole"-design.
the pipe itself is marvellous and unique - simply: perfect artisan craftsmanship! in difference to most things in life, where photographed subjects look better on the screen than in reality, the "tronchetto" is much more a real beauty than it looked like on the pictures you had sent.
this starts with the overall shape - especially the curved top of the pot is as marvellous as a wonderful lady's lips ;-). i really cant stop to touch it. it goes on with the grain: almost straight (i did not realize that on the pictures!) on the one side and a even much more prettier (IMHO perfect) flame grain on the other. and it ends with a mouthpiece, perfectly trimmed and so smooth i never have it on any other pipe i own. between this points are many, many other parts and shapes i can enjoy with eyes and fingers, too.
not to mention the exclusivity to be the owner of one of only 9 filter-pipes you ever created (until now?). i really fear that i'll have to wait 'til christmas to smoke this beauty for the first time - it surely needs some celebration. maybe the first snow will bring the right mood for this special moment a little bit earlier.
dear maurizio, i have to thank you very much: for the nice and respectful correspondence as much as for the wonderful work you did; not to forget the very professional business ethics!
be ensured this won't be the last "le nuvole", i've bought (as you know, it depends a little bit on the ol' filter problem). i wish you and the whole tombari-family the very best in future, but first: a merry christmas and great new year 2006!
yours, bernhard |

Mio caro Maurizio,

Bonjourno,
Thank you for the quick reply, it is my birthday weekend (I'm 43) and I am up a little later than usual. I am a frequent customer of Knoxville Cigar Co. and check their forums (bulletin boards) every day. I have admired your work but most importantly I am impressed with you after doing my research and reading everything I could find about you and your pipes. The internet is a powerful tool and I have come across your name more than once, I personally believe that Italian briar/pipe-makers are second to none. My Wife and her family are/were from Sicily and I have enjoyed, as have our children, the benefits of Italian quality goods. It is good to see that you and your Wife work together as a team, like my Wife Carla and I do, so I hope to "keep it in the family" and what better than an Italian pipe after a meal of Fettucine Alla Romana, Mozzarella Marinara and Garlic Bread etc... I look forward to doing business in the future. Ciao, |

Ciao Signore Tombari,
as you might remember, I had purchased one of your cornettos and I'm completely satisfied with it. But you have refascinated me (No such word? Perhaps it's a Zed word) with your Egg in Egg design. How could you come up with such an idea?
Congratulations.
Looking forward to see your other Zeds to come.
By the way, I am fully aware that your "regular" pipes aren't ordinary designs at all. Best Regards, |
